Understanding acidity and gastritis through an Ayurvedic perspective, with attention to diet, lifestyle, digestion and individualized care.
Acidity is a common digestive concern that may be experienced as a burning sensation, sour belching, indigestion, bloating or discomfort after meals. Symptoms can vary from person to person and may have different causes.
Ayurveda approaches digestive health by considering the individual as a whole, including digestion, food habits, daily routine, lifestyle and overall wellbeing.
Acidity is a term commonly used for symptoms associated with excess stomach acid or acid reflux. Some people may notice burning in the upper abdomen or chest, sour taste, belching or discomfort after eating.
Frequent or persistent symptoms should not simply be self-treated, because reflux, gastritis, ulcers and other digestive conditions can have overlapping symptoms.
Ayurveda traditionally gives importance to Agni, or digestive capacity, and considers diet, routine, constitution and other individual factors when discussing digestive concerns.
Depending on individual needs, attention may be given to regular meals, suitable food choices, adequate sleep, hydration, physical activity and stress management.
Persistent, severe, new or worsening digestive symptoms should be appropriately evaluated. Severe abdominal or chest pain, repeated vomiting, difficulty swallowing, vomiting blood, black stools or unexplained weight loss require prompt medical attention.
Ayurvedic consultation should complement, not replace, necessary medical diagnosis and treatment. Do not stop prescribed medicines without consulting the prescribing healthcare professional.
At Ayushmaan Bhavah, Ayurvedic consultation focuses on understanding the individual's health history, symptoms, lifestyle and dietary patterns before considering an appropriate Ayurvedic wellness plan.
